Large Animal resources for Vet Tech28 Jan 2006 14:24 GMT1
I'm finally taking the Larga Aniaml course and I'm loving it, but I want to
know more. Our textbook is Large Animal Clinical Procedures for Veterinary
Technicians by Elizabeth Hanie and it's good, but there's not much by way of
small ruminants. Can anyone recommend some good ...

Big Guy update24 Jan 2006 22:57 GMT3
Big Guy doesn't have FeLV, FIV or parasites. In fact he gained 1 ounce
and got home and was hungry! The vet gave him a shot of centrine to help
with the diarrhea, 4 cans of AD and Feline gastroenteric food and
suggested giving him Nutri-Cal.

Hyperthyroidism23 Jan 2006 03:42 GMT4
I am hoping someone can give some advice on what to do about an unwell
cat, if anything.  This cat is my elderly mother's friend and
companion! At nearly 15, he is no chicken himself.
He has been diagnosed as having a swollen thyroid gland which I believe
hyperthyroid cat22 Jan 2006 23:49 GMT1
I can't find the original post, but a friend has a cat that gets a tuna
flavored compound made up of methimazole, which her cat eats like a
treat. Perhaps this would work for your mother. It's made up at
Veterinary Pharmacies of America Inc in Houston.

My 18 year old cat, Big Guy, has started showing signs of his age
recently. I took him to the vet because he seemed to be losing weight
and he wasn't eating as eagerly as usual. After 10 days on Antirobe for
gum infection, I took him back for bloodwork. Everything looks really
Giving shots to pot bellied pigs21 Jan 2006 02:47 GMT2
Does anyone have advice on how to give a pot bellied pig shots?  We
live to far in the country to have a vet come out every day to give my
pot bellied pig two penicillin shots a day.  He has a respiratory
problem and I've obtained penicillin.  The problem is, we have a very
Hot Spots On Dog20 Jan 2006 22:40 GMT3
I wonder if you have advice for me. My dog has broken out in what my
vet calls hot spots. They gave me some shampoo to use but it doesn't
seem to be working. I bath him every other day and the spots just seem
to be getting worse. Scaly, cracking and some bleeding. Any

heart murmur15 Jan 2006 14:04 GMT7
I took my 2yo bloodhound (from a bloodhound rescue group) to the vet and he
heard a heart murmur.  No congestion but the murmur is 3/6.
I only have experience with old dogs and congestive heart failure.
