What do you think he's looking for?25 Jan 2008 03:05 GMT3
My dog, Erwin has nasty arthritic changes in one elbow, and a swollen joint
capsule on his right hind, possibly a damaged cruciate.
The vet who is seeing him has suggested that we take an X-Ray of his hips.
Any idea what he might be looking for? We're doing it regardless, and I'm
Suspected Psychosis; possible phobia24 Jan 2008 11:55 GMT2
Dog is beautiful black Lab, 8 years old.  Recently, he has developed a reluctance, perhaps fear of entering certain spaces.  For example, he goes into back porch sun room and "can't get back."  That is he won't cross the threshold to come back into the kitchen.  When called or ...

Interpreting X-Rays --- Help with the basics19 Jan 2008 04:50 GMT7
So I figured given that I had some time to really carefully look over
Erwin's X-Rays in private (I took them home to see if I could come up with a
good way to get them in to a digital format), it might be a good time to
really carefully examine them and basically 'get my ...
post spay question19 Jan 2008 01:40 GMT1
My  3 year old female Chow was spayed on Wednesday.  When I picked her up
from the vet, he said that a normal uterus is pink in color but that hers
was dark and looked "hemorrhagic".  He offered to send a tissue sample for a
pathology test if I wanted.
Digestive Enzymes and Weight Gain?18 Jan 2008 20:50 GMT13
As some of you already know, my 3 1/2 y.o. Lab has nasty arthritis in his
elbow, and an injured cruciate.
Needless to say, I'm trying to keep a very close eye on his weight. He was
up about 2 lbs from what I'd like him  to be at his last weigh in. His new
Sleepaway 17 Jan 2008 19:04 GMT26
I had my 12 year old dog put down yesterday. Was told that it would be
peaceful and painless. It went horribly in the other direction. She writhed
and jerked on the table, while she was whimpering and yipping. All this
before the entire syringe contents had been injected into her. ...
Antiseizures17 Jan 2008 05:20 GMT8
My 4 yo std poodle had seizures from metritus (maybe even a stroke)
after a c-section last summer.  She's on phenobarb and KBr now, since
the phenobarb alone didn't stop the seizures completely.  While the
two drugs are efficacious, she is displaying many of the KBr side
Scanning X-Rays?13 Jan 2008 03:10 GMT5
Anyone had any luck scanning X-Rays? The results of my attempts thus far
have been quite unsatisfactory.

I have a nine month old standard poodle. about 4 months ago he started
to get a little stiff. I just thought he hurt himself playing with the
other dogs. within a day or two he  got so bad he started to scream
when he tried to lift his head up. ( he keeps his head tilted to the
My dog's change of coat09 Jan 2008 05:17 GMT3
My 10 year old golden retriever/lab mix is having her long soft black
hair replaced by a short reddish turf.  There are no signs of
baldness, mites, etc.and her diet hasn't changed in 10 years!  Does
anyone have an idea of what might be going on?  Thank you!!!

Dealing with the MI5 Spam...05 Jan 2008 02:59 GMT6
I'm sure some/many of you have noticed the recent upsurge in spam in this
group. This spam is somewhat difficult to filter, as it seems that every
message comes from a different (apparently random) account. I've posted the
following before, but it might be time for a re-post.
Liver Disease in Dogs02 Jan 2008 10:39 GMT3
Our puppy mill rescued bichon-mix has been diagnosed with 1 to 2 year
terminal liver disease. The diagnosis came from hepatic blood tests
and ultrasound test. I am hoping to read about how others have helped
their liver-diseased dogs live a better life for their remaining days.
